What is the Firstbeat Sports: Coach app?
The Firstbeat Sports: Coach app is an iOS application developed for training load monitoring and data collection.
Please note that athletes can also use their own app. Once the athletes have their own profiles in the Firstbeat Sports Cloud, they can download the Firstbeat Sports: Athlete app to their Android or iOS mobile phone devices. This allows them to download and sync data if they are training away from the team facility. 🔗 More information about the app here. |

You can download the app from the Apple App Store.
It is recommended to keep the auto-update feature enabled to get the latest updates automatically.
3. Getting started
Note: Before starting to use the Firstbeat Sports: Coach app, team and athlete profiles need to be created in the Firstbeat Sports Cloud. 🔗Please check the following article for more information here. |
3.1 Logging into the app
Log in to the Firstbeat Sports: Coach app with your Firstbeat Sports credentials. The same credentials are used for logging into the app (iOS device) and Sports Cloud (web browser). Please check your email inbox for the complete registration process.
Internet connectivity: The Firstbeat Sports: Coach app can be used offline after the first login. However, not all features are accessible offline. You can use the app without an internet connection to pair Sensors with athletes, see the Live view and to download training data from Sensors. An internet connection is needed to sync data from the Coach app to the Firstbeat Sports Cloud.
3.2 Preparing the Sensors
Open the Sensor Management view by selecting the item in the left side menu. The screen lists then lists the active Sensors.
If you cannot see Sensor(s) on the screen activate the Sensor you want to pair by touching the Sensor pins. LED will start flashing when the sensor wakes up.
Open the Pairing Menu by pressing the Person button found on the right side of the row. Each Sensor has its own individual row.
Select the athlete you want to pair with that Sensor.
TIP 👉 Write the athlete’s name or number on the Sensor casing so that they can easily identify their Sensor.
3.3 Starting a training session
From the Sensor Management view, you can continue to the Live View.
With the Live View, you can follow athlete training loads in real time. The Sensors calculate training load metrics internally, so when data is received from the Sensors it is always up to date. Stopping and finishing the Live View does not affect Sensor calculations. The Sensor is recording until the athlete removes the Sensor.
-
Select and change which variables are visible on an athlete’s Live tile using the bottom left menu (right).
-
Add and hide athletes shown in the Live View using bottom left menu (left).
-
The time shown at the bottom of the athletes’ Live tiles shows how long the Sensors have been recording.
-
The time at the bottom of Live view shows how long you have been using it during the training session.
TIP 👉 Create logins for other coaches so they can also access the Live View on their own devices in the same training session. 🔗 See the following article for more information.
Please note that the maximum Live View range varies from 30m to 200m. Multiple factors can affect this. To maximize range:
-
Check that athletes do not have heavy clothing covering the Sensor.
-
Make sure that there are no large physical objects between the Sensor and the device you use for monitoring.
-
Keep the device above waist height.
-
Do not cover the highlighted area with your hand during monitoring (see the picture below). This is where the Bluetooth signal is received and covering it may reduce connectivity with the Sensors.
