The Session Management feature enables you to create a session via the Firstbeat Sports: Coach app when finishing a workout/training session. After stopping a session recording, you can select a team, set the session start and end times and select the athletes who participated in the session. This helps to ensure training session details are set correctly and enables automatic group reporting.
You can use either iPad or iPhone for the 'Training Session Management' feature.
Sessions are created by starting a session recording. This is done by entering the Live View in the Firstbeat Sports: Coach app and clicking the START TEAM SESSION button.
When a session recording has been activated, a session timer will be visible in the Live view at the bottom of the screen and on a blue banner on top of the screen.
By pressing the STOP button, you are given a choice to discard the session or to save it.
The session timer is reset if you discard the session. Importantly, training data is not deleted.
The session timer does not limit the start and end times for the session. For example, if you start a session recording in the middle of a training session, you can still set the start of the session to the appropriate earlier time.
In the Team Session Details dialog, you can set the following session parameters:
- Team: Select the team for which the session is created. If a team is not selected, session is created for all teams in the account.
Time period: start and end times. Use the slider and buttons to set the times.
Title: Title for the session. Note: This field was previously called Sports type.
Notes: Write session notes. Notes are for short remarks and can be a maximum of 250 characters in length.
Participated athletes: Select the athletes that participated in the training session.
- Add "unseen" athletes: Select the person icon on the right to add athletes to the session that have not been in range during the session recording.
When you save the session, you are reminded to download and sync data from the Sensors and Sports Cloud.
It is possible to download and sync data in chunks. Athlete data synced to the Sports Cloud later is automatically added to the session when data is available.
Home Screen Session Sync Status
On the home screen, you can see the session data download and sync status for each team. This view helps you to track the data download and sync status to get all data downloaded.
Session sync statuses are team specific. Select a team to see recent sessions and their data sync status.
If the Firstbeat Sports: Coach app has an online connection, it checks the data sync status from the Sports Cloud. If Sensor data has been downloaded and synced using some other device (e.g. an athlete's mobile phone or other iPad), the sync status is visible on all devices. This helps the downloading process in case several devices are used.
Sending incomplete group reports
In case some data is not yet downloaded and synced, it's possible to send an incomplete group training report. This helps coaches to analyze the training session immediately after the training if needed. An incomplete report is generated using the data that is available on the Sports Cloud.
To use the report sending feature, you need to have the group reporting setting turned on for the logged-in Coach. Reporting settings are managed on the Sports Cloud under the Coach profile settings. In case reporting for the selected team is turned off, the Firstbeat Sports: Coach app shows a notification, and reporting sending option is disabled.
It is also possible to send incomplete (or complete) reports on Sports Cloud.
Sessions since the last seven days are visible on the Firstbeat Sports: Coach app home screen. If you wish to hide a session from the home screen, you can select "hide this notification". This does not delete any measurements or sessions, just hides to session from the home screen.
- The maximum session length is 12 hours.
- It is possible to use multiple devices at the same time to create sessions.
