It is important to treat the Firstbeat Sports Sensor (Sensor) and textile strap with care. Follow the instructions below to maximize their lifespan and ensure reliable measurements.
Note! Failing to consistently wash the textile strap can decrease its effectiveness due to salt and sweat build-up.
Sensor cleaning
- Remove the Sensor from the strap after every use and dry using a towel.
- When necessary, clean the Sensor with a mild solution of soap and water. Dry with towel.
- Do not clean using alcohol or any abrasive material such as wool or cleaning chemicals
- Never put the Sensor in a washing machine or dryer
Sensor storage
- For storage, detaching the Sensor from strap helps maximize battery lifetime.
- Store in a cool, dry place.
- Do not expose the Sensor to direct sunlight for an extended time
- Do not store the Sensor when wet
- Do not store the Sensor in non-breathable material (e.g. sports bag/plastic bag) as this may cause oxidation
Strap cleaning
- Rinse the strap with cold water after every use. Hang to dry.
- Wash the strap on a weekly basis.
- Do not put the strap in a dryer
You can determine the method of cleaning by the symbols on the strap and the Firstbeat Sports washing bag.
Please note that failing to consistently wash the textile strap can decrease its effectiveness due to salt and sweat build-up.
If machine wash is not possible, regularly clean the strap gently with mild soap and water solution. Do this at least every fifth use.
Strap storage
- Store in a cool, dry place
Note! It is natural that straps will wear out over time due to use. Additional straps are available for purchase when necessary. 👉 Visit our webshop for a stress-free and simple way to purchase Firstbeat Sports Sensor replacement straps.
Replacing the battery
Poor quality batteries may significantly deteriorate usage time and cause discontinued or poor recording quality.
Other battery types (e.g. CR2032 or CR2016) may damage the device or cause uncontrolled function – their use is strictly forbidden.
1. Open the back cover
Use a flat-headed tool like the strap buckle, old coin cell battery or a coin. Don't use any sharp tools (screwdriver, keys etc.) as those will damage the back cover and the sensor. Remove old battery. Inspect the rubber seal and sensor for any kind of damage.
2. Place new battery
Place the new battery (CR2025) into the battery cover with the negative (-) side facing outwards and visible.
3. Close the back cover
Align the edge of the battery cover with the slot on the Sensor and push the back cover back into place. You will hear a click sound when the battery cover is secured in place.
Tips
- Find a suitable time to change all Sensor batteries at the same time if that works for you and your team.
- Change battery before it is completely empty - especially when training in cold conditions as cold temperature can affect battery voltage.
- Be extra careful when opening the cover if you accidentally place the battery the wrong way. A wrongly placed battery makes the cover hard to remove.
