The Coach Access Rights feature allows organizations to control which teams, athletes, and data each coach can access in Firstbeat Sports. This ensures coaches only see and manage the information relevant to their responsibilities.
Access rights are managed by assigning coaches access to specific teams.
User Roles
Firstbeat Sports supports two main user roles related to coach access:
Admin
Admins have full access to the account. They can view and manage:
All teams
All athletes
All sessions
All coaches
Account settings
Admins can also manage coach access rights and assign team permissions.
Coach
Coaches may have access to only selected teams and athletes depending on the permissions granted by an Admin.
Coaches cannot modify account-level settings.
Managing Coach Access
Accessing Coach Management
To manage coach access rights:
Click your profile picture in the top-right corner of Sports Cloud.
Select Coach Management.
Assigning Team Access
In the Coach Management view:
Select the coach you want to manage.
Use the team dropdown menu to assign which teams the coach can access.
Only the selected teams will be available to that coach.
Coach Permissions
A coach’s permissions depend on the teams they are assigned to.
Coaches can:
Access teams explicitly assigned to them
Access athletes who belong to those teams
Access athletes who are not assigned to any team
Even without team access, coaches can still:
See team names and photos
See athlete names, photos, and team associations
See other coach users
Within teams they can access, coaches can also:
Create new athletes
Add athletes to teams they have access to
Edit or delete athletes in their teams
Edit or delete athletes who are not assigned to a team
Edit teams they have access to
Edit their own profile information
Edit session and lap names used within the account
Invite new coach users via email to their team
Add new report topics
Coaches cannot:
Modify their own team access
Grant access to teams they do not have access to
Remove team access from Admin users
Edit teams they do not have access to
Edit athletes in teams they cannot access
Change account-wide settings such as:
Training zones
Report settings
Coaches also cannot view detailed data for restricted teams or athletes, including:
Athlete reports
Measurements
Analysis results
Session data
Athlete profile details
Data exports
Access to new teams must always be granted manually.
Coach Access Rights in the Coach App
The Firstbeat Sports Coach App follows the same access rules as Sports Cloud.
Team Selection
Teams the coach does not have access to appear disabled in the team selection menu.
If no team is selected (Show All Athletes):
Athletes belonging only to restricted teams are filtered out.
Athletes that belong to multiple teams may still appear if the coach has access to at least one of those teams.
Athlete Sensors
If a coach does not have access to the athlete's team:
The coach can see sensor information, including:
Sensor status
Serial number
Firmware version
Battery level
However, the coach cannot perform sensor actions:
Pair sensor
Remove sensor
Update firmware
Quick Recovery Test (QRT)
If the athlete is in a restricted team:
The athlete row appears disabled
Heart rate is hidden
The coach cannot start QRT
QRT results are not shown
Live View
When No Team Selected is used:
Athletes from restricted teams are hidden
Pairing Sensors
Coach with limited access to a team cannot:
Unpair the sensor
Update sensor firmware
However, the coach can reset the sensor, after which it can be paired with another athlete.
