Downloading data
Downloading data from the Firstbeat Sports Sensors involves the following steps:
-
Measurement data is downloaded from the Sports Sensors to the Firstbeat Sports: Coach app
-
Data is uploaded from the Coach app to the Firstbeat Sports Cloud
An internet connection is not needed when downloading measurements from Sensors to the app. However, when measurements are uploaded to the Sports Cloud, an internet connection is required. If an internet connection is active when measurements have been downloaded to the app, measurements are automatically synchronized to the Sports Cloud. |
1. From Sensor to Coach app
Enter the Sensor download view.
Please note: Before starting the process, ensure that the Sensors are within 10 meters of the device. Keep the device within range during the whole download process.
a) Download from all Sensors
Press the DOWNLOAD ALL button to start the download process. The Coach app will start then to download data from three Sensors at the same time and will add the rest of the Sensors to the download queue. When a data download from one Sensor is complete, the Coach app automatically proceeds to download data from the next Sensor in the queue until all downloads have been completed.
If you want to cancel the download press the stop button for the respective Sensor's row.
b) Download from a specific Sensor
Press the download button ("down arrow" icon) in the respective Sensor’s row.
2. From Coach app to Cloud
After the measurements have been downloaded to the Coach app they are automatically synchronized to the Sports Cloud when there is an internet connection available.
👉 Tip: It is possible to use multiple devices to download data from Sensors. This can speed up the download process when there are multiple Sensors to download from. However, the downloaded measurement data is device-specific. If you use several devices to download measurements from Sensors the downloaded data is not synced between devices.
Note: Quick Recovery Test (QRT) data is also device-specific. If QRTs have been done, data from the device that was used to start and conduct the QRTs needs to be synced to the Sports Cloud before recovery analysis is available.
After the measurements have been downloaded to the Coach app they are automatically synchronized to the Sports Cloud web service when there is an internet connection available. It is also possible to manually trigger the sync process by pressing the Sync button ("arrowed circle" icon).

Viewing the download and sync status
You can view the ‘last sync with Sports-server’ status by clicking on the left side menu icon.
The Loaded Measurements button uses color-coded numbers to indicate if there are measurements from that Sensor waiting to be uploaded to the Sports Cloud (blue number) or the number of measurements uploaded that day (green number).
A green number is not the same as measurements downloaded or completed that day. It refers only to measurements uploaded to the Sports Cloud on that day. For example, if a measurement was recorded yesterday but uploaded today, it will show a green number 1.
Example 1: Three measurements are downloaded to the device and waiting to be uploaded (synced) to the Sports Cloud.
Example 2: Two measurements have been downloaded to the device from each of the first three Sensors. These measurements are waiting to be uploaded to the Sports Cloud. For the last Sensor in the list, two measurements are waiting in the Sensor to be downloaded to the device, hence the blue number appearing on the Download button.
"Blue overrides green". If there are downloaded measurements from a Sensor ready to be uploaded to the Sports Cloud, this number (in blue circle) will be the one visible even if you have downloaded and then uploaded (synced) measurements from that same Sensor earlier on the same day. |
After downloading, you can also see how many, and which, measurements are downloaded from each Sensor. Use the Loaded Measurements button to access the loaded measurements view.
The Loaded Measurements view shows a list of measurements downloaded from a Sensor to the device (e.g. iPad). Only data for the past 30 days is shown. Older data is not available in the list.
Use the slider button at the bottom of the screen to see if there are discarded measurements. Discarded measurements are not uploaded to the Sports Cloud. If you see discarded measurements regularly please take action to improve data quality. See the following article for more information on how to do so: What can cause higher error percentages in Firstbeat Sports data? |
You can use the Sports Cloud to delete a measurement if you need to do so. Log in to Sports Cloud web service for further training load analysis.
Info for mobile (iOS/Android) Coach app users: the Loaded Measurements list is more compact. Data quality and Sports Cloud sync times are not included in the list on mobile devices.
