On the Firstbeat Sports Coach App you can perform a Submaximal Fitness Test live to make testing easier, faster and more reliable. Fitness Testing is an add-on module.
After the rest you access the SMFT report directly trough the Coach App.
To perform a SMFT, select "Fitness Testing" from the left panel.
Next select a protocol you want to run by tapping on it. You can add/edit protocols in Sports Cloud from pen icon in the top right corner.
After selecting the protocol you can add another protocol from the "+" symbol on top of the view. In this way you can run multiple protocols for different athletes at the same time. For example some might have a lower cardiorespiratory fitness and therefore the pace of the protocol is different. Or athletes could use different devices to perform the procotol.
All athletes whos sensors are recording and which are in range, will be automatically added to test. You can add or remove athletes to the test from the top bar.
Test can be started only for athlete whos sensor is recording.
The test can be started for all athletes at once from the bottom right corner by tapping "start all", or individually by tapping on the "play" icon.
On the very bottom of the view you can see how many athletes you have selected for the test, how many are ready to start, how many are currently being tested and how many have finished the test.
While the test is in progress you can see the live heart rate as percentage of HRmax and how much time is left until the test is completed.
If your protocol has a Heart Rate Recovery phase it will start automatically after the test phase has ended.
After the test is completed, you are guided to download the data from the sensors. You can do it immediately or to it later and continue with the training.
Note: Data download will stop the measurement, but a new one will start soon if athletes are wearing the sensor.
After you have downloaded the data, you can access the SMFT report from the "Fitness Testing" view. This will open the report in Sports Cloud.
Note: You may need to log in to your Sports Cloud if you haven't logged in with this device previously.
If you want to re-do or delete the test, you can do it from the "trash bin" icon from the top right corner. Additionally, you are able to remove individual athletes from the test by tapping on the three dots.
This will open you an interactive report about the test.
Please read more information about the report here.

Troubleshooting
A test can fail if a sensor stops recording unexpectedly. It for example runs out of battery. You can start the test again and mark the message as noted by tapping on the "checkmark" or you can remove the athlete from the test by tapping the human icon.
Please note that especially in Submaximal Fitness Testing the data quality is crucial because we are comparing the internal reactions to the same external load for a relatively short time period. Thefore make sure that the belts are moistened well before starting the test as SMFT usually perfomed at the very beginning of a training session and at this time point athletes are not usually sweating.
