Firmware updates for the Firstbeat Sports Sensor are released periodically. Updates may include bug fixes, performance improvements, and support for new features.
We recommend updating Sensors whenever a new firmware version is available to ensure the best possible performance and access to the latest features.
You can update Sensor firmware with the following apps:
- Firstbeat Sports Coach app (iPad and iPhone)
- Firstbeat Sports Athlete app (Android and iPhone)
For Athlete app instructions, see How to update the Sensor firmware with the Firstbeat Sports Athlete app.
Before you start
Before updating the firmware, make sure that:
- You are using the latest version of the Firstbeat Sports Coach app.
- All measurements have been downloaded from the Sensor.
- The Sensor is close to the iPad or iPhone used for the update.
- The Sensor battery is not low.
- Only one device is used to update a Sensor at a time.
A firmware update takes approximately one minute per Sensor.
How to update the firmware
- Open the Firstbeat Sports Coach app.
- Tap Sensor Management.
-
If updates are available, a blue circle with a number appears on the Sensor Management icon.
The number shows how many Sensors within range can be updated.
- In the Sensor Management view, select the athlete’s Sensor that you want to update.
-
Tap the blue microchip icon next to the Sensor.
If the icon is grey, the Sensor already has the latest firmware version installed.
- Tap Update and wait for the process to finish.
Troubleshooting
The update failed
Try the update again. A temporary failure is usually caused by wireless traffic.
Make sure that the Sensor is close to the iPad or iPhone. If the problem continues, restart the Coach app or restart the Sensor by removing and reinserting its battery.
Starting the update takes a long time
The Sensor may contain measurement data that is being downloaded.
To make updates start faster and more consistently, download data from all Sensors before starting firmware updates.
The update failed and the Sensor is visible with the status “UPDATE MODE”.
Tap the blue microchip icon and start the update again.
After the update, add the correct athlete profile manually.
The Coach app reports “Update failed”, but the firmware version was updated and the Athlete profile is missing
If the Coach app shows that the firmware version is correct, pair the athlete profile again. The firmware update was successful, but athlete-profile pairing failed.
The update does not start because the battery level is too low
Replace the Sensor battery. A firmware update cannot start when the battery level is too low.
The Sensor is not responsive and the LED is on
Remove and reinsert the battery to restart the Sensor, then try the update again.
Note: Restarting the Sensor by removing and reinserting the battery starts the Sensor in update mode.
I cancelled the update
Start the update process again from Sensor Management.
